Caralise Hunt Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and St. Francis-Emory Healthcare Professor
Dr. Caralise Hunt has over twenty years of nursing experience including medical-surgical and maternal-child nursing. Dr. Hunt joined the Auburn University faculty in 2000 as a clinical associate. She became a full-time nursing instructor for Auburn in 2005 and began an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor in 2007. After completing a doctorate in 2011, she entered a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor. She was named Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in 2018 and was promoted to Professor in 2023.

Pao-Feng Tsai Professor & Associate Dean for Research
Dr. Pao-Feng Tsai has over 27 years of experience in the academic field. Prior to moving to the U.S., she held several teaching and research positions in Taiwan. In 1999, she began a tenure track appointment as assistant professor in the College of Nursing, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, Ark., and was promoted to full professor in 2013. During her tenure at UAMS, she served as the research leader of the Arkansas’ Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence, was the recipient of the Alice An-Loh Sun Endowed Professorship in Geriatric Nursing, and was selected Graduate Faculty of the Year and Best Ph.D. Faculty of the Year. She joined the Auburn University (AU) College of Nursing as Professor and Associate Dean for Research in 2020. Dr. Tsai is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She was the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award for Excellence in Scholarship conferred by Kaohsiung Medical University and serves as the member of the Biotechnology, Health and Innovation Research Center Advisory Board at the Hungkuang University, Taiwan. She has received several National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and foundation funded research grants as principal investigator or co-investigator in the past 20 years focusing mainly on pain and geriatric care. She had sponsored several undergraduate, predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships. She has made presentations at national and international conventions and published more than 50 articles. She serves as the chair of the research committee in the College of Nursing and as a member of several College of Nursing and AU committees. She has been reviewing grants for NIH, VA, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Nurses Foundation, Southern Nursing Research Society, Alzheimer’s Association, Research Grants Council of Hong Kong and the Dunhill Medical Trust, London, England.

Barbara Wilder Wells Fargo Professor/Dir Graduate Program
Barbara Wilder received her initial nursing education at St. Margaret's School of Nursing, then returned to school to complete her undergraduate degree from Auburn University at Montgomery. She received a master's degree in Adult Health from Troy State University and another master's degree as a nurse practitioner from University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). In 1995, she completed a Doctorate of Science in Nursing from UAB. The focus of her doctoral research was hardiness and quality of life in older adults. Wilder's research program continues to center around adult health. Another component of the research program is nurse practitioners and their perceived roles and actual roles. An emerging area is service learning health promotion and its impact upon nursing students and low income clients. Another huge area is serving learning health promotion and its impact upon nursing students and low income clients. Wilder joined the AU faculty in 1985 and currently teaches the NP courses in the master's program and some Medical-Surgical concepts in the undergraduate program.

Tiffani Chidume Associate Clinical Professor
Dr. Tiffani Chidume joined the faculty at Auburn University as an Assistant Clinical Professor in 2018. She has 22 years of combined experience in nursing education, critical care, emergency nursing, long-term healthcare, and health information technology. She worked in the ICU at East Alabama Medical Center for over a decade and was certified as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), now Alumnus CCRN. Tiffani has dual certifications in simulation. She is a certified healthcare simulation educator-advanced (CHSE-A) and a certified healthcare simulation operations specialist (CHSOS). Within the College of Nursing, she serves on the Simulation, Technology, and Diversity and Inclusion committees. She also serves on Auburn University's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. In January 2021, Tiffani earned the Best Research Award in Nursing and Health Professions from the International Research Awards on New Science Inventions (NESIN 2020 Awards). In 2024, Tiffani was awarded the Dr. Jemelene Chastain Moore Distinguished Faculty Award as well as the Research Excellence Award and Academic Excellence Award from INACSL. She was also awarded an Anthony Battaglia Scholarship Award at the INACSL 2023 conference for her dedication and advancements in simulation. Amy Curtis Associate Clinical Professor
Dr. Amy Curtis has over 17 years of combined experience in nursing and nursing education. She earned her BSN from Auburn University in 2003 and spent much of her nursing career working in orthopedics. She earned her MSN in 2011 from Auburn University and Auburn University Montgomery's Joint MSN Program. She also earned her College and University Teaching Graduate Certificate from Auburn University in 2011. Dr. Curtis earned her PhD in Adult Education from Auburn University in 2016. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Auburn University College of Nursing where she coordinates the Fundamentals of Nursing and Health Assessment courses for junior level nursing students. She also teaches in both the MSN and RN to BSN Graduate Programs at Auburn University. She is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) with over 9 years of simulation experience. Her research interests include best practice in simulation-based education, best practice in nursing education, vulnerable populations (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), geriatric/long-term nursing care, holistic admission practices, health disparities, and breast cancer education. She is a member the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), Simulation Society for Healthcare (SSH), Sigma, American Nurses Association (ANA), Alabama State Nurses Association (ASNA) District 5 where she currently serves as district Treasurer, American Cancer Society Action Network, and Auburn University Research Initiative for Cancer (AURIC)

Joy DeBellis Assistant Clinical Professor
Dr. Joy DeBellis joined the Auburn University College of Nursing faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor in April 2020. She received her BS in Health Promotion from Auburn University in 1998 and worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor for 9 years. She then received her BSN from Auburn University in 2007 and gained experience as an RN in med-surg, oncology, urology, and cardiology. In 2009, she completed her MSN from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner (certified AANP) for the past 12 years. Joy has experience as a CRNP in family health, cardiology, and veteran’s health. Joy completed her DNP in 2019 and began her journey in academia. Joy serves as the President for Sigma Theta Tau International, Theta Delta local chapter, and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), American Holistic Nursing Association (AHNA), Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society, and AMSUS. Joy serves on various committees within the AUCON, including the Graduate Evaluation Committee (Chair), Wellness Committee, and previously on the Outreach Committee. She passed the Lifestyle Medicine certification in December 2021 and is a Certified Professional of the ACLM (DipACLM/DipIBLM). She currently holds a part-time clinical practice at Varicosity Vein Center in Auburn, Alabama.

Kathy Ellison East Alabama Medical Center/Dr. Bill Lazenby Professor
Kathy Jo Ellison received her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and her Master's and Doctoral degrees in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has taught at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Tennessee, and at Auburn University. She has been on the faculty at Auburn University for 24 years. Her primary teaching areas include Evidence-Based Practice, Adult and Community Health, and Cross-Cultural Studies. Kathy Jo Ellison's research interests are primarily oriented toward chronic illness and caregiver education and support. She has also conducted research on mammography attitudes and behavior, blood glucose control in post-operative diabetic clients, and several areas of student and patient education. Current areas of development include education and support of persons with memory problems and improved nursing education for mass casualty incidents.

Christine Feeley Assistant Professor
Christine Feeley is a nurse researcher with extensive clinical experience and a passion for helping children and families. She received her BSN, MSN, and PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and completed her post doctoral fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Feeley's research focuses on sleep in parents and children with a chronic illness, and how sleep may influence other aspects of life, including stress, anxiety, symptom management, and depressive symptoms. Her research is informed by her clinical experience as a pediatric nurse working with families and children with chronic illnesses. She is an active member of the Sleep Research Society, The American Diabetes Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and SNRS.

Margot Fox Assistant Clinical Professor
Margot Fox received a BSN from the Auburn University College of Nursing in 1986 and a MSN in Nurse Education from the joint Auburn University/AUM program in 2013. She began her career as a staff nurse in Orthopedics and Neurology in Asheville, North Carolina and later served as a community resource nurse for one of the first health information and referral services in the NC area. Following a move back to her hometown of Alexander City, Alabama in 1990, Mrs. Fox began a twelve-year career as an occupational health nurse in the textile industry. Mrs. Fox joined the AUCON faculty in 2014 as an assistant clinical professor and is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). She currently is a member of the AUCON Alumni Board and Sigma International Nursing Honor Society. For several years after joining the AUCON faculty, Mrs. Fox served as the community health coordinator and facilitated outreach and service-learning opportunities for our nursing students as they served populations throughout Lee and surrounding counties. In 2015, she co-developed and coordinated the school’s first Summer High School Nursing Camp. The annual camp is an engaging one-week summer program designed to introduce campers from across the country to the field of nursing through “hands-on” stations led by faculty and undergraduate students. Mrs. Fox is now assigned to all undergraduate Skills Labs and is a member of the EAGLES Simulation Center team. She loves facilitating foundational learning and confidence-building experiences for our future nurses in the state-of-the-art interactive educational environments offered at AUSON.

Brooke Freeman Assistant Clinical Professor
Mrs. Brooke Freeman received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Coaching from Auburn University in May 2017. She found her passion for nursing shortly after graduating and decided to go back to school. She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham's (UAB) Accelerated Master’s in Nursing Program (AMNP) and obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing in May 2020. She went on to work at UAB Medical West in Bessemer, AL specializing in Women’s Health. During this time she also worked as a clinical instructor for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Her nursing experience includes: labor and delivery, postpartum care, newborn care, and women’s surgical services. Brooke returned to her alma mater as a clinical associate for the Auburn University College of Nursing in August 2022 and was subsequently hired as an Assistant Clinical Professor in April 2023. She currently teaches in the Maternity/Newborn course within our undergraduate program, and serves on our undergraduate curriculum committee and clinical committee.

Drew Frugé Associate Professor
Drew Frugé is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing where his research spans multiple facets of healthy aging. As a postdoctoral fellow in the NCI-funded Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he began exploring the relationships among diet, physical activity, inflammation and the gut microbiome in cancer patients and survivors and has extended that research into understanding these relationships in adults with and at risk for other chronic diseases. Drew worked in corporate banking after receiving business degrees from Harding University, Mississippi State University (MSU), and Auburn University. He went back to school to become a Registered Dietitian and nutrition scientist and completed a PhD in Food Science, Nutrition, and Health Promotion from MSU in 2014. Linda Gibson-Young Professor
Dr. Linda Gibson-Young has an exciting academic background in population health with a focus on pediatrics. Her work actively engages undergraduate and graduate students in outreach and research. Dr. Gibson-Young has a Ph.D. in nursing, an MBA, and is certified as a family nurse practitioner (ANCC). In 2021, she received the Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice in Nursing. In 2016, she became a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) and a Leadership for Academic Nursing Program (LANP) Fellow with the American Association of Colleges in Nursing (AACN). In 2015, she received the Outstanding Research Award from The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). Collaborative and interdisciplinary teams partner with Dr. Gibson-Young's outreach and research across Alabama.

Robin Gosdin Farrell Associate Clinical Professor
Dr. Robin Gosdin Farrell has been a part of Auburn for over 30 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner (certified ANCC). As a CRNP, Robin has worked in family health, college health, and women’s health. She brings over 34 years of experience as an RN with experience in urgent care, family care, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, and college health. In 2010, she graduated with her DNP and began her journey in academia. She most recently served as Assistant Professor with Troy University (Montgomery campus) in the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Program and the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Dr. Farrell is a member of National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty (NONPF), Sigma Theta Tau Internal Nursing Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society, and is active in the Advanced Practitioners in the River Region. She and another faculty member founded the East Alabama Nurse Practitioner Council.

Rachel Helms Assistant Clinical Professor
Dr. Rachel Helms joined the faculty at the Auburn University College of Nursing as an Assistant Clinical Professor in June 2022. She graduated from Auburn with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009. Rachel began her career working as a staff nurse and then nurse leader in the Emergency and Trauma Center at Columbus Regional Medical Center, the region’s only level II trauma facility. After returning home to Atlanta in 2011, she continued to work as an emergency and trauma nurse at Atlanta Medical Center. She also spent 3 years working as a critical care transport/flight nurse at AirEvac Lifeteam. In 2014, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing with an Emergency Nurse Practitioner focus at Vanderbilt University. She has since worked as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner in metro Atlanta area. She earned the Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Auburn University in 2021. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Academy of Emergency Nursing Practitioners, the American Nurses Association and the Georgia Nurses Association. Rachel has served as a clinical preceptor at the undergraduate and graduate levels throughout her career. She has a passion for providing young nurses with a strong educational foundation, through both classroom and clinical teaching. Her teaching focus includes senior level undergraduate courses in critical care as well as graduate level courses.

Kendall Henderson Assistant Clinical Professor and Academic Coach
Mrs. Henderson joined the Auburn College of Nursing Faculty in 2016. She graduated from Auburn’s College of Nursing in 2013 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Following graduation, she moved to Atlanta and worked for Emory University Hospital in the NeuroIntensive Care Unit. Mrs. Henderson then went on to graduate from Auburn University in 2016 with her Masters in Nursing Education. After graduation, Mrs. Henderson began working for the Auburn University College of Nursing and teaches first and second semester students in the areas of Nursing Pathophysiology and Adult Health Nursing. She is currently working on completing a PhD in Educational Psychology through Auburn University. Mrs. Henderson is also the Academic Coach for the College of Nursing. In this role, she works with College of Nursing students to improve test taking, time management, and study skills. She also founded the National Consortium for Nursing Academic Coaches, a national organization that brings together academic coaches from around the country to collaborate and support each other in their academic and clinical roles. She is the faculty advisor for the AUCON Student Wellness Committee, the AUCON Student Nurses Christian Fellowship, and the AUCON Orientation Counselors.

Eleanor Howell Professor
Dr. Eleanor Howell returned to the Auburn faculty in 2017 following 20 years in academic leadership positions. Howell first joined the Auburn faculty in 1994 as an associate professor and coordinator of special projects at Auburn University College of Nursing. In this role, she generated and managed faculty practice and service contracts, and taught in the BSN and joint MSN programs. Dr. Howell’s teaching career began at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she taught in graduate programs in nursing administration, adult health, and trauma, and in the University’s geriatric education center and interdisciplinary injury control research center. She served as dean of the College of Nursing at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and of the School of Nursing at Samford University. Dr. Howell serves as a team leader and on-site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. She has served as an institutional accreditation evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, a curriculum and accreditation consultant to various nursing programs, and participated in curriculum reform in China, nursing education seminars in the United Kingdom, and management training workshops for physicians from Azerbaijan and the Republics of Georgia and Armenia. Her research interests are in health services administration and policy, and she is teaching courses on evidence-based practice, policy, and quality and safety management in the graduate program.

Carlie Hunt Assistant Clinical Professor
Carlie Hunt received her BSN degree from Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in 2015 and her MSN Nurse Educator from Auburn University College of Nursing (AUCON) in 2022. She has worked in the adult inpatient setting the past 8 years, with experience in cardiovascular, medical-surgical, and stroke care at Emory University Hospital (Atlanta, GA) and Baptist Medical Center (Montgomery, AL). Carlie has 4 years of academia experience in various roles in the classroom, clinical, lab, and simulation settings. She is passionate about helping students understand and apply classroom knowledge to the clinical setting. Carlie joined Auburn College of Nursing as full-time faculty in July of 2024. Her duties include teaching in the Clinical Judgment 1 and Health Assessment courses, serving on the Evaluation Committee and the Admission Council. She is married and has two rescue dogs that love to play. Carlie enjoys playing soccer, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities in her free time. She is thrilled to bring her passion for teaching and clinical experience to AUCON!

Tanya Johnson Associate Clinical Professor
TANYA JOHNSON, MSN, RN, NE-BC is an Associate Clinical Professor Auburn University College of Nursing and has 47 years of nursing experience. Prior to joining faculty at Auburn University College of Nursing in 2013, she served in a variety of leadership positions throughout her career within her hometown hospital in Alexander City, Al. Mrs. Johnson’s clinical experience includes emergency and obstetrical nursing, nursing administration, and as Director of Nursing for eight years prior to beginning academia. She continues to support her clinical practice at Russell Medical by working as a PRN Nursing Supervisor and teaching clinical with AUSON students. Mrs. Johnson currently serves as course leader for traditional undergraduate and RN-BSN leadership courses. She assisted in developing the AUSON RN-BSN Online Nursing Program and currently serves as the coordinator. Mrs. Johnson has a passion for study abroad where she developed and implemented study abroad programs in Malawi, Ghana, and Spain. She participates in The Eagles Center simulation and collaborates with simulation faculty to develop and enhance various simulation scenarios. Mrs. Johnson has published and presented at local, state, national, and international conferences. Her scholarly and research interests include NCLEX success, simulation, patient safety, and healthy work environment, and teaching and learning in the online environment. Mrs. Johnson is a member of Alabama State Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International and maintains national certification as a Nurse Executive - Board Certified. She serves on the Auburn University College of Nursing Alumni Advisory Council and the Auburn University Clinical Advisory Board in addition to various Auburn University and Auburn University College of Nursing committees.

Meghan Jones Associate Clinical Professor
Meghan joined the faculty at Auburn University in 2015 and serves as the Director of Clinical Simulation and Skills within the College of Nursing. Meghan is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A) and completed the Leadership in Simulation Instruction and Management certificate through Robert Morris University in 2018. She earned her MSN degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her BSN degree from Auburn University. She has 12 years of combined experience in nursing education, critical care, and women’s health. Within the College of Nursing, Meghan serves on the curriculum committee, bylaws review committee, and simulation committee. She is a professional member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, Society for Simulation in Healthcare, Association of Standardized Patient Educators, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is an active member in Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society.

Ann Lambert Clinical Professor
Ann Lambert received an undergraduate degree in Family and Child Services from Auburn University and baccalaureate in Nursing from Auburn University at Montgomery. Her Master’s degree in Maternal Child Nursing is from the University of South Alabama and post-master’s certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has over 35 years of nursing experience including Med-Surg, ED, ICU, PACU, Oncology and nurse manager. She has taught in associate and baccalaureate nursing programs. Since 2000, she has also maintained clinical practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Lambert joined the AU faculty in 2013 as an Assistant Clinical Professor. She teaches primarily in the junior level Maternity Course and Pediatric nursing content within the integrated curriculum.

Chin-Yen Lin Assistant Professor
Dr. Lin received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Kentucky and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, Research and Interventions for Cardiovascular Health. During her post-doctoral training, she managed research initiatives and delivered interventions to patients and caregivers affected by heart diseases. Her area of research focuses on symptom management, self-care, cognitive impairment, and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with heart failure. Recently, she worked on a research project to determine brain activity using functional magnetic resonance imaging to explore the role of the insula and its associated brain regions in relation to symptom perception and care-seeking decision-making among patients with heart failure. April Love Assistant Clinical Professor
Ms. Love joined the College of Nursing faculty as part of the E.A.G.L.E.S Center team in 2023. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Auburn, she obtained nursing licensure through the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Accelerated Master’s in Nursing Pathway (AMNP). She worked first as a Labor & Delivery nurse and then as a clinical educator for the postpartum unit/wellborn nursery at UAB Hospital. During that time, she also served as a clinical associate for both Auburn and UAB nursing schools and taught community prenatal education classes. She entered academia fulltime as an Instructor with the UAB School of Nursing in 2017, primarily teaching prelicensure students in their fundamentals and obstetrics classes. In 2020, she was honored to receive the Alabama League for Nursing’s (ALN) Excellence in Teaching Award. Ms. Love’s current role focuses on supporting active learning strategies and simulation for nursing education both in and outside of the classroom.

Christopher Martin Assistant Clinical Professor
Dr. Christopher (Chris) Martin teaches pharmacology and professional practices courses in the undergraduate nursing program. Dr. Martin earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University in 2012 and his Master of Science in Nursing from Samford University with a focus in Healthcare Management and Leadership in 2015. He began his career as a staff nurse on the Coronary Care Unit at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. After a short stint working as a clinical director for a hospitalist group, Chris served as the Director of Nursing Education and Staff Development at Grandview Medical Center, where he oversaw all nursing education functions. Chris returned to his alma mater in August 2019 and serves on the Inclusion/Diversity and Admission, Progression & Graduation (APG) committees. Chris also serves as the College of Nursing Representative to the Auburn University Senate and the Diversity Leaders Roundtable. In 2022, Chris graduated from William Carey University with a PhD in Nursing Education and Administration. He is a member of the American Association of Men in Nursing and SIGMA International. Kathy McAdory Assistant Clinical Professor
Kathy McAdory joined the faculty of AUCON in February 2024 and her teaching focus is community and population health nursing. She earned her ADN from Southern Union State Community College in 2013, BSN from Auburn University at Montgomery through the RN-BSN program in 2016, and MSN in Nursing Education from Auburn University in 2020. Kathy's nursing background includes intensive care, acute dialysis, a travel nursing journey throughout the COVID-19 pandemic across the Southeast in multiple critical care settings, and serving as the nurse administrator for Auburn City Schools. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators, and the National Association of School Nurses. Caitlin Moore Assistant Clinical Professor
Dr. Caitlin Moore received her BSN from Auburn University in 2012. She went on to work in critical care and emergency services in Birmingham for 11 years, serving in various leadership and education roles. She received her DNP from Michigan State University with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus. Dr. Moore received the Daisy award while completing her DNP studies for her work with patients in the Emergency Department, improving their access to medication. Kelley Noll Associate Clinical Professor
Dr. Kelley Noll joined Auburn University in 2012 as a clinical associate and became full-time faculty in 2014 as an Assistant Clinical Professor. She teaches leadership and NCLEX prep in the undergraduate program and several nurse educator courses in the graduate program. Dr. Noll is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE). She is currently serving a three-year term as a Faculty Fellow for the Auburn University Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning. Dr. Noll serves as the Undergraduate Evaluation Chair in the College of Nursing and the Academic Standards Chair for an AU Senate Committee. Her primary area of research is effective teaching behaviors in higher education. She is a member of the National League for Nursing, Alabama League for Nursing, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN), and Sigma International. Francine Parker Betty McClendon Fuller Professor
Francine Parker earned a BSN from Troy University Montgomery in 1979 and a MSN from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1988. Her doctorate in the department of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Technology at Auburn University was awarded in 2004. Dr. Parker has served in a nursing faculty role for over 20 years, twice receiving the Irma Moore Faculty Excellence award as well as earning the designation of Distinguished Teaching Fellow in her tenure at Auburn Montgomery. Since transferring to Auburn University in 2006, Dr. Parker has been selected the SGA Outstanding Nursing Faculty twice, 2008 & 2009. Dr. Parker teaches nursing leadership and professional concepts to senior students and a graduate course in health promotion and quality. Dr. Parker’s scholarly activities have included interdisciplinary research with a colleague in interior design exploring nurse work station configuration and the impact on stress and job satisfaction and MSN graduate students’ process of change in knowledge and attitudes using Mezirow’s Transformative Adult Learning Theory. Interdisciplinary research with landscape design in the School of Architecture was funded to increase environmental parameters and activity with residents of the Auburn Housing Authority and surrounding neighborhoods. The variables of nurse moral distress and job satisfaction were the subject of research exploring their relationship to an ethical work environment. Dr. Parker has participated 10 years as a panelist with the Alabama Department of Public Health Informal Dispute Resolution program. The successful program was designed to offer long-term care facilities an opportunity to address deficiencies noted by survey teams or through a complaint. January 2012, Dr. Parker was appointed by Governor Robert Bentley to a four year term on the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABON). The ABON regulates nursing practice with a primary purpose of protecting and safeguarding the public.

Seth Perry Assistant Clinical Professor
Seth H. Perry is an assistant clinical professor who teaches within the E.A.G.L.E.S. center in the Auburn University College of Nursing. He graduated from AUCON in 2016 with a BSN and later graduated with an MSN in 2021. He began his career at Children’s of Alabama in 2016 and accumulated a background in pediatric behavioral health, inpatient pediatric pulmonary care, and clinical simulation education. He attended the Center for Medical Simulation course in 2020 and completed several simulation courses through the Office of Interprofessional Simulation for Innovative Clinical Practice at UAB. He is a Certified Pediatric Nurse and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator. He is a member of the International Society for Simulation in Healthcare, the International Pediatric Simulation Society, and the American Association of Men in Nursing. Within AUCON, he serves on the Clinical Committee, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Daisy Award Committee, and as faculty advisor to AUCON's American Association of Men in Nursing. Amy Pridemore Assistant Clinical Professor
Dr. Amy Pridemore joined the Auburn College of Nursing faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor in January of 2023. She received her BSN from the University of South Alabama in 2009 and served as a nurse in the United States Navy for 12 years resigning at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. As a Navy Nurse, Amy served clinically in critical care and medical surgical settings. Administratively, Amy served in the roles of department head, nursing supervisor, and as a chief operations officer of an outpatient clinic. Amy is a graduate of Auburn's Doctor of Nursing Practice program and Dual-MSN nurse educator/nurse practitioner program. Hae Sagong Assistant Professor
Dr. Hae Sagong has six years of experience working in the ICU of a geriatric long-term care hospital in South Korea and served as a lecturer at nursing colleges in South Korea for three years. Dr. Sagong's research primarily focuses on frailty, person-centered care in long-term care facilities, and dementia care for older adults. As an immigrant to the United States, she has also begun focusing on improving health literacy and healthcare access for Korean immigrants, as well as addressing healthcare disparities within this group. Pamela Short Assistant Clinical Professor
Pamela Short serves at AUCON as Assistant Clinical Professor. She is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor and the founder of Kenny’s Kouncil, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to provide resources to individuals affected by mental illness or impairment and their family members. Short is a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). She is a South by Southwest (SXSW) presenter, aiming to educate others on self-care strategies for a healthy state of mind. Short is an Auburn alumnus, having completed both her bachelor’s (1993) and master’s (2018) degrees at AUSON. After graduating in 1993, she worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Four Rivers Medical Center, now Vaughan Regional Medical Center, in Selma, AL. Short has a wealth of teaching experience as an adjunct instructor in psychiatric mental health, medical-surgical nursing, evidence-based practice, fundamentals, and palliative health care courses at Wallace Community College, Tuskegee University, Jacksonville State University & Auburn University Montgomery (AUM). As an assistant clinical instructor at Jacksonville State University, Short’s teaching and clinical experiences encompass psychiatric mental health, fundamentals, and emergency/disaster relief management which she brings into her present appointment. She also served on the COVID task force, assisting students, faculty, and staff during the height of the pandemic. Her clinical experiences with students at Crisis Intervention and in-patient facilities have broadened her passion for advocating for those struggling with mental health conditions. Pamela teaches the psychiatric mental health course with Dr. Stuart Pope. Her research interests focus on improving mental health through the implementation of self-care strategies and identifying the most reliable and valid screening tool to diagnose alcoholism in the geriatric population.

Andrea Smith Assistant Clinical Professor
Andrea earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Fort Hays State University (Hays, KS) in 2006 and her Masters in Nursing Education in 2018 from Columbus State University (Columbus, GA). Kelly Strickland Associate Clinical Professor
Mrs. Strickland earned her BSN degree from Samford University in 2009. She worked as an RN in cardiovascular inpatient and outpatient services before earning her MSN from Samford University in 2016. She joined the AUCON faculty as an assistant clinical professor in July of 2016. She is the Community Liaison and teaches Community Health across the BSN curriculum. She is passionate about developing and maintaining meaningful community-based clinical partnerships and strategic outreach efforts. Rachael Sweeney Assistant Clinical Professor
Dr. Rachael Sweeney joined Auburn in the spring of 2019 as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. She has over 16 years of emergency medical experience beginning as an EMT, Emergency Room Nurse, Flight Nurse and now Emergency Nurse Practitioner. She has also worked with acute and chronic pediatric home bound patients with significant healthcare needs. Claire Thompson Assistant Clinical Professor
Claire earned her BSN from Auburn University in 2008, and her MSN from UAB in 2015. Her nursing experience includes neonatal intensive care, women's health, and high-risk pregnancy/maternal-fetal medicine. She joined Auburn’s faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor in 2017, and teaches primarily in the childbearing and reproductive course. She is a certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, and a member of Sigma International Honor Society of Nursing. Within the College of Nursing, she serves on several committees, including clinical committee, simulation committee, and the DAISY Award Committee. Claire is the program director for nursing's study abroad program to London, England and Edinburgh, Scotland. She also travels abroad with students on a service-learning trip to Ecuador to care for underserved populations. She practices on a mobile-based clinic, as well as other rural and underserved clinics, specializing in preconception and interconception care of reproductive-aged women, especially in marginalized populations. She is passionate about improving health and managing chronic disease in this population to increase the likelihood of healthier pregnancies and fewer maternal and infant deaths. She serves on the Alabama Maternal Mortality Review Committee, reviewing cases of maternal deaths for preventability. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), desiring to become a driving force for quality, equitable women's healthcare while eliminating health disparities, and to improve the health of women in Alabama and beyond.

Erin Thornton Assistant Clinical Professor
Erin earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbus State University in 2011. She began her nursing career on a medical surgical pediatric unit at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. Accompanying her military husband to Pensacola, Florida, Erin then stepped into Pediatric Critical Care at the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart in Pensacola as a staff nurse in the PICU in 2014. While there, Erin completed her Master of Nursing in Education and helped develop a Celebration of Life ceremony to honor the lives of children at the pediatric hospital. This development was the first of its kind supporting bereaved families as well as the clinical staff who helped care for pediatric patients. Erin and her family moved back home where Erin joined the Pediatric Emergency Department at Piedmont Columbus Regional, in Columbus Georgia in 2017. In her time at Piedmont, Erin served as a staff nurse as well as became the first Unit Based Educator for the Pediatric Emergency Department. After some time, Erin was offered an opportunity in leadership and became the Manager of the Level 2 Adult Emergency and Trauma Center at Piedmont Columbus Regional. Erin is a certified Pediatric Nurse. Erin joined Auburn College of Nursing as a full-time faculty in April of 2022. Her subject of teaching at the College of Nursing is pediatric critical care.

Dr. Katilya Ware is an associate professor at the College of Nursing at Auburn University, where she has been a faculty member since 2016. Sarah Watts Assistant Professor
Dr. Watts received her BSN and MSN degrees from Samford University. She received her PhD in nursing degree from Mercer University and was awarded the NLN/SNRS Research Grant to fund her dissertation study. Clay Young Assistant Clinical Professor
Clay earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Auburn University in 1996 and served as Senior Class President. He worked as an RN at East Alabama Medical Center in the Emergency Department and Cardiac Catheterization Lab for five years before moving to Atlanta, GA in 2001. While in Atlanta, he worked as a staff RN and Clinical Supervisor in the Emergency Department at Northside Hospital for fifteen years. During that period, he worked intermittent travel nursing assignments in northern California within the Catholic Healthcare West system. He returned to Auburn in 2016 and completed the dual-track Master's Degree Program at AUCON in 2018, earning a Master of Science in Nursing Education and Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. While in graduate school, he worked as an RN for Encompass Home Health and Hospice. Clay worked as a nurse practitioner for Nexus Pain Center in Columbus, GA from 2019 until joining the AUCON faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor in February 2021. Clay teaches primarily in the senior level nursing courses including critical care and leadership. Clay serves as the Vice President for Sigma Theta Tau International, Theta Delta local chapter and on the Auburn University Graduation Committee. Abby joined Auburn University College of Nursing in August 2021. She began her nursing career in 2016 and is a graduate of Auburn University College of Nursing. Following graduation, she worked as an RN on a med/surg unit at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama and then worked for several years as Labor and Delivery RN at East Alabama Health. During her time as a floor nurse, she served as a coach for new hires, a preceptor for Southern Union State Community College, and a clinical associate for AUCON first and third semester students. Advising Philosophy: As an academic advisor my overall goal is to help students navigate their academic career while exploring their educational and career goals. I consider myself not only as an advisor, but also has a life-long scholar. I take interest in advising students, and the administration of advisors, and improving the quality and effectiveness of my advising and the advising performed in my constituency. I have a natural curiosity about advising, recruitment, and research projects to learn more about the process and the environment. Leora Wright Simulation Operations - IT Specialist IV
Simulation Operations Leora Wright has served as the Auburn University College of Nursing IT Specialist since 2013. As she worked to support faculty, staff, and the simulation team, she found a passion for simulation technology. In 2018, she became AUCON’s first Simulation Operations Specialist, playing a vital role in the growth of the simulation program over the past four years. Her responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, and general operation of all high, medium, and low fidelity simulation equipment, audio-visual equipment, and computers used in the EAGLES Center. She became a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) in 2021 and is an active member of SSH and SimGHOSTS. Leora uses her creativity and knowledge of simulation technology and best practice to develop innovative strategies to enhance student learning.
