• The Auburn University Huntsville Research Center is located in Huntsville’s Cummings Research Park, the second largest research and technology park in the U.S. and the fourth largest research park in the world
   
• Auburn University has earned the distinguished R1 research classification by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Auburn is also one of few universities to be designated as a land-, sea-, and space-grant institution. 
   
• Auburn University has three cyber security designations. The Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency jointly designated Auburn as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education and a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research. Most recently, Auburn became one of only eight universities in the country to be named a Center of Excellence in Cyber Operations by the National Security Agency
