The Alabama Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (ALEPSCoR) program is dedicated to the advancement of economic development via scientific and engineering research through a collaborative effort among the State’s research universities. The focus of activities is designed to attract and retain distinguished scientists and researchers for Alabama; to develop new cutting-edge technologies and high-tech industry; and to stimulate state competitiveness in medicine, biotechnology, engineering, and other applied sciences.


 

Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities (APLU)

APLU

A non-profit association of public research universities, land-grant institutions, and state university systems with member campuses in all 50 states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. Dedicated to advancing learning, discovery and engagement, the association provides a forum for the discussion and development of policies and programs affecting higher education and the public interest.


 

COGRCouncil on Governmental Relations (COGR)

The Council on Governmental Relations is an association of research universities located in the District of Columbia. Since its inception in 1948, COGR has been continuously involved in the development of all major financial and administrative aspects of federally-funded research.

Today, COGR’s primary function is to provide advice and information to its membership and to make certain that federal agencies understand academic operations and the impact of proposed regulations on colleges and universities. COGR helps to develop policies and practices that fairly reflect the mutual interests and separate obligations of federal agencies and universities in research and graduate education.


 

GUIRRGovernment University Industry Research Roundtable (GUIRR)

GUIRR provides a forum like no other, where a unique mix of sectors comes together to understand how the other side thinks. The participants are senior-most leaders within their organizations, a tribute to the “convening power” of the Academies. GUIRR offers “neutral turf” and closed doors for very frank discussions that builds bridges and spurs accelerated activities. 

GUIRR-initiated collaborations of individuals from the government, university and industry sectors have a continuing record of success in improving the effectiveness of the U.S. in science and technology and its application to national goals.  Looking to the future, we believe this approach – reflecting the initiative of its members – will remain timely in an increasingly interdependent world.


 

ORAUOak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU)

A consortium of major Ph.D.-granting academic institutions that advances scientific research and education through partnerships with academia and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). ORAU works with its member institutions to help their students and faculty through collaborations with national laboratories, federal agencies, other educational and governmental entities, and the private sector.


 

SECUSoutheastern Conference Universities (SECU)

Using its SECU academic initiative, the Southeastern Conference sponsors, supports and promotes collaborative higher education programs and activities involving administrators, faculty and students at its fourteen member universities. The SEC also provides an online platform to showcase achievements of these individuals on regional, national and international levels.


 

SURASoutheastern Universities Research Association (SURA)

A consortium of major Ph.D.-granting academic institutions that advances scientific research and education through partnerships with academia and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). ORAU works with its member institutions to help their students and faculty through collaborations with national laboratories, federal agencies, other educational and governmental entities, and the private sector.


 

Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP)FDP Logo

The Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) is an association of federal agencies, academic research institutions with administrative, faculty and technical representation, and research policy organizations that work to streamline the administration of federally sponsored research. FDP members of all sectors cooperate in identifying, testing, and implementing new, more effective ways of managing the more than $15 Billion in federal research grants. The goal of improving the productivity of research without compromising its stewardship has benefits for the entire nation.


 

Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium

Sea Grant

The mission of MASGC is to enhance the sustainable use and conservation of ocean and coastal resources to benefit the economy and environment in Alabama and Mississippi. To fulfill this mission, MASGC commits to interdisciplinary environmental scholarship and community-based natural-resource management. The tools available in support of the MASGC mission are applied interdisciplinary research, outreach, education and legal services using both targeted and cross-cutting approaches. These tools are utilized at local, state, regional, national and international arenas.


 

Alabama Cyber Research Consortium

ALCRC.ORG

The Alabama Cyber Research Consortium (ALCRC) is a partnership of the seven PhD-granting Universities in Alabama along with additional industrial and research affiliates. Formed in early 2013, after years of informal and formal collaborations between smaller groups of the partner Universities, the ALCRC is the culmination of our individual and collective commitments to research, advanced development, education, and outreach in all areas of the cyber domain. The ALCRC is an active group of scientists, engineers, and affiliates committed to creating solutions with practical impact on the state, local, regional, and national economy, and to helping consumers, corporations, and the public sector solve real problems and avoid significant harm involving cybercrime and related national security issues.
