GABBR LSAMP Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program

Summer 2024 Research Experience Application Form

Overview:

The Greater Alabama Black Belt Region Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (GABBR LSAMP) program sponsors an annual Summer REU Program to provide GABBR LSAMP Scholars with internship opportunities to conduct research during the summer in research laboratories on the campuses of the GABBR LSAMP four-year universities. Each participating student will work closely with a STEM faculty mentor/team on a research project. Students may identify and contact the STEM faculty/lab that they wish to work with.

Financial Support:

Each participating student will receive a $6,500 stipend.

Expectations:

Participants will be required to present their summer research at the Annual MAKERS/LSAMP Research Conference held the following April. Participants are also expected to apply for an NSF travel award in order to present their research at the next Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in STEM, held annually each February in Washington, D.C.

Application:

Applicants must be current GABBR LSAMP Scholars and underrepresented minority students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents majoring in a STEM discipline. Applicants must also have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA at the beginning of the summer semester. Applicants must complete and submit the GABBR LSAMP 2022 Summer Research Internship Application Form and submit a letter of support from a STEM faculty member via email to lsamp@auburn.edu. Priority application deadline is Sunday, March 31, 2024.
