The Kovalevskaia Research Grants is an initiative of the Kovalevskaia Fund and SAMSA, within the Masamu Program. The awards aim to encourage upcoming female mathematicians from the sub-Saharan Africa region. The grants are awarded to female candidates from the region who have demonstrated outstanding work with respect to research and publications in pure or applied mathematics.

Presentation of the awards takes place during the Southern Africa Mathematical Sciences Association (SAMSA) annual conference.
