We are delighted to introduce our newest faculty member, Chin-Yen Lin, who joined AUCON as an assistant professor this spring. Lin, who received her doctoral degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky, graduated with an undergraduate degree in nursing from Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taiwan. Following her undergraduate degree, she worked as an RN in the cardiovascular surgical ICU at the National Taiwan University Hospital for three years, before starting her doctoral program.

At AUCON, Lin will be teaching measurement in healthcare research and use of data to graduate students. The course is designed to prepare students with essential skills to critically evaluate existing measurements, enabling them to discern best practices and evidence-based interventions aimed at improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of care they deliver. “These tools and knowledge will help them make meaningful contributions to advancing healthcare practice and research,” Lin added.

“As I navigate my nursing journey, Florence Nightingale’s legacy has served as a beacon of inspiration, reminding me of the profound impact that a dedicated and compassionate nurse can have on the lives of others.

Her research focus includes symptom management, self-care, cognitive health, and cardiac outcomes. "One of my primary missions is to contribute towards preventing cardiovascular risks and its complications among Alabama residents, ultimately improving the health outcomes of the community. There are significant health challenges, including prevalent conditions like hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and obesity. In the clinical setting, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment in providing direct care to patients and observing how my care and interventions positively impact their health and well-being. This hands-on experience drives my academic pursuits, as I constantly seek to deepen my understanding of healthcare concepts and evidence-based practices.

“Additionally, my passion for research arises from a desire to contribute to the advancement of nursing knowledge and ultimately improve patient outcomes on a broader scale. Having dedicated over a decade to working with patients living with heart disease, I have immersed myself in cardiovascular research to advance heart health. Drawing from my clinical and research experience with high-risk heart disease patients, I am eager to apply my knowledge to benefit Alabama residents,” she added.

AUCON extends a warm welcome to Chin-Yen Lin and her family as they embark on an exciting journey in Auburn.
