Welcome Auburn and Visiting team moms! The Tiger Babies Breastfeeding Pods will be open at Jordan Hare Stadium for all home games. Please follow us on Tiger Babies Breastfeeding Support Tent Facebook Page for updates.

A partnership between the Auburn University School of Nursing, Lactation Services at East Alabama Medical Center and Auburn Athletics resulted in the availability of support tents for new moms and their babies inside Jordan-Hare Stadium during the football season.

TigerBabiesTM are breastfeeding locations that have been placed at Jordan Hare stadium and the Auburn Arena.  During football games, because of the pandemic, breastfeeding pods will be available on the main concourse of the stadium near sections 13 and 43. Three other locations that were within first aid stations of the stadium will not be available now. These sites have assisted more than 800 mothers and their babies since they were installed.  TigerBabiesTM was the first service of this kind offered at any SEC campus on game day. Georgia, Alabama and Arkansas have now added similar services for their fans.

Nursing's associate clinical professors Ann Lambert (and retired assistant clinical professor Laurie Harris) developed the support tent after talking with several women who reported they needed safe, clean and private options when they had to breastfeed at a game. The tent, now a pod, provides women a clean, private area to nurse or pump. It features rocking chairs, changing stations, and fans or heaters, depending on the weather. Sibling activities include face painting, coloring, etc.

Research shows that mothers with community and family support are more likely to continue breastfeeding for longer duration. Benefits of breastfeeding include aiding the new mom in returning to her pre-pregnancy weight, helping with bonding and attachment between mom and baby, offering greater convenience and affordability, and avoiding heightened chances for health issues as a result of greater immunity from mom's breast milk.
