The National Academies of Practice, NAP, recently announced the election of Joy DeBellis DNP, NP-C, DipACLM, PNAP as a Professional Member in the Nursing Academy. Members of the Class of 2025 were inducted into the National Academies of Practice during the Annual Induction Banquet and Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

DeBellis became a member of the College of Nursing faculty in April 2020. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion from Auburn University in 1998 and worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor for nine years. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2007, she acquired experience as an RN in medical-surgical, oncology, urology, and cardiology. In 2009, she completed her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner, certified by AANP, for the past 15 years. DeBellis has experience as a CRNP in family health, cardiology, and veteran’s health. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2019 and transitioned into academia. She obtained certification in Lifestyle Medicine in 2021 and is a Diplomat of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Holistic Nursing Association, and Sigma Theta Tau. DeBellis serves on various committees within the AUCON and is Chair of the Graduate Evaluation Committee and Wellness Committee. She currently holds a part-time clinical practice at Varicosity Vein Center in Auburn, Alabama.

NAP was established to educate and inform its members and others, facilitate collaborative scholarship and research opportunities, recruit, engage, retain, and mentor its network of members, and advocate the value of interprofessional practice and improve healthcare and policy for all.
