Kelly Strickland, assistant clinical professor in the College of Nursing, received the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators (ACHNE) Advancing Health Equity Award last week at the ACHNE conference in Virginia. Strickland is the first recipient of the award.

Strickland is the Community Liaison and teaches Community Health across the BSN curriculum. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in Nursing (STTI), the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators (ACHNE), the Rural Nurse Organization (RNO), the Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (DDNA), and the Alliance for Disability in Health Care Education (ADHCE). She is passionate about developing and maintaining meaningful community-based clinical partnerships and strategic outreach efforts. Her scholarship and outreach efforts are devoted to improving the health and wellness of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

ACHNE mission is to advance population health through quality community/public health nursing education, research and practice and to provide a scholarly and supportive meeting ground for those committed to excellence in community and public health nursing education, research, and practice, focusing on learning from history to improve future population health practice.
