After a pandemic hiatus, the Nurse Narrative is back on the air this spring! The last episode was in July of 2020 with Dr. Marie Charles on Health Disparities and Action Steps. For the first episode this spring, the hosts, Kelly Strickland and Meghan Jones talk with DeAsha Powell.   Powell, a fifth semester student, shares what it’s like to be a nursing student during a global pandemic.

DeAsha Powell loves to cook, read, binge watching Grey’s Anatomy, and she’s fluent in Spanish! She always knew that Auburn was the school for her, and has been an excellent addition to our nursing program. We also discuss Black History Month and about the nurses of color who have inspired her along her journey. DeAsha bravely shares her experience as a student of color and offers some wise words to other students from underrepresented groups. We are so excited to see how DeAsha enhances the nursing profession, and grateful that she trusted Auburn to prepare her for her promising career!
