October is Sudden infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month. In connection with the observation, nursing students have designed campaigns to promote awareness.

The cause for SIDS is unknown; however, there are many ways to reduce risks. Click here for image.

Safe to Sleep: The best position for the baby is on his/her back during sleeping; placing the crib in the same room where you sleep reduces the risk of SIDS by 50%. Offer babies a pacifier at sleep time; stay awake while holding babies; Click here to see image.

Declutter that Crib: Only baby belongs in the crib. Avoid pillows, bumpers, stuffed toys and cushions in the crib. Click here to declutter the crib.

When caring for the grandchild, remember babies need to sleep alone, not share a bed. Click here for image.
