Claire earned her BSN from Auburn University in 2008, and her MSN from UAB in 2015. Her nursing experience includes neonatal intensive care, women's health, and high-risk pregnancy/maternal-fetal medicine. She joined Auburn’s faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor in 2017, and teaches primarily in the childbearing and reproductive course. She is a certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, and a member of Sigma International Honor Society of Nursing. Within the College of Nursing, she serves on several committees, including clinical committee, simulation committee, and the DAISY Award Committee. Claire is the program director for nursing's study abroad program to London, England and Edinburgh, Scotland. She also travels abroad with students on a service-learning trip to Ecuador to care for underserved populations. She practices on a mobile-based clinic, as well as other rural and underserved clinics, specializing in preconception and interconception care of reproductive-aged women, especially in marginalized populations. She is passionate about improving health and managing chronic disease in this population to increase the likelihood of healthier pregnancies and fewer maternal and infant deaths. She serves on the Alabama Maternal Mortality Review Committee, reviewing cases of maternal deaths for preventability. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), desiring to become a driving force for quality, equitable women's healthcare while eliminating health disparities, and to improve the health of women in Alabama and beyond.
