Alcohol and other Drugs: Risk Reduction Strategies
Reduce the Risk:
This program is designed to help students identify the negative and harmful consequences of high-risk alcohol use. It acknowledges that abstinence from alcohol is the safest option, although not always the most acceptable choice for students. The program focuses on harm reduction as opposed to a “just say no” approach. The presenters approach this topic in a fun, interactive, positive, and intellectually stimulating manner.
Social Norms (How do perceptions and norms impact drinking?):
This program is designed to help students recognize the difference between distorted realities of drinking amounts among peers and the actual amount of drinking occurring among peers.
This program reveals what drinking typically looks like on a college campus. The program is designed to increase awareness about “typical” drinking behaviors and habits, and the negative consequences associated with alcohol abuse.
