The Office of Greek Life sponsors the following programs throughout the year to support the growth and development of both the community and the student leaders.
Greek Leadership Summit
Each January, the newly elected chapter presidents, council executive officers, and Office of Greek Life staff head to Columbiana, AL for a 2-night leadership summit. The goals of the Summit are to: 1) Build relationships between our Greek leaders; 2) Provide a forum for discussion between student leaders that allows them to explore issues affecting the Auburn Greek community; 3) Provide information necessary for students to grow and develop as leaders; and 4) Allow time for councils to set goals and develop a vision for the Auburn Greek community.
President's Round Table Discussions
Twice during each semester, the chapter presidents and council executive officers gather for fellowship over a meal and a leadership development program. The Round Tables are held in order to maintain the development of friendships among the Greek community leaders, assist in leadership skills development, and provide updates on the progress each council is making on its established goals.
New Member Education Programs
Each Greek Council hosts educational programs to support the development of its new members.
Panhellenic holds two New Member Convocations. One program is focused on personal safety and vigilance education. The second program is focused on alcohol education and awareness. Both programs aim to increase the knowledge students possess regarding health, wellness, and safety and complement the new member education program of each sorority.
IFC holds a six-part educational series, titled the Auburn Man Program. For six consecutive Mondays, the fraternity new members attend sessions on topics that have been identified by the student leaders as the expected characteristics of a fraternity man. The topics include: responsibility, involvement, respect, scholarship, making good decisions, and what it means to be a fraternity man.
NPHC hosts a new member orientation program each semester. This program educates members about the history of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. and its 9 member organizations. In addition to the orientation program, NPHC hosts topic forum discussions and community service events that support the programmatic thrusts of the NPHC. These programs provide new members with an understanding of what is expected of members.
Greek Installation Banquet
Every November, the Office of Greek Life hosts the Greek Installation Banquet in the Student Center Ballroom. This program features all three Greek governing councils and provides an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the Greek community during the past year. During the program each council recognizes the out-going officers, installs new officers, and gives out awards and recognition. The event is highly anticipated by the Auburn community each year.
