DAISY Award honoree at Andalusia Health, Cassie Momenpour (formerly Cassie Cooper) is an AUCON alum. After she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing in August 2018, she returned to her hometown to work in the Intensive Care Unit at Andalusia Health. She was recently recognized for going above and beyond for caring and treating her patients with love and care, checking up on their recovery and made feel acknowledged.
Growing up in Andalusia, she was drawn to the relationships and care nurses provided several of her family members when they were in a hospital. “With the knowledge that I could provide comfort to families in some of their toughest times, I shadowed nurses at our local hospital. I also observed Nurse Practitioner Skylar Moore in Auburn. These experiences convinced me of my career choice and my parents supported my interest in nursing.”
Coming to Auburn’s College of Nursing was an easy choice for Cassie as she had always wanted to be an Auburn alumnus. “The AUCON faculty and staff are very knowledgeable and competent in their profession. They molded me into the nurse I am today. Nursing school was not easy, but the faculty was always there to reassure me and help build my confidence.
“I believe in hard work, and I believe in the human touch, two parts of the Auburn Creed that resonate with me. The work ethic that was instilled in me by my family helps me do my job diligently. The hands-on simulations and clinical sites increased my confidence and has allowed me to care and advocate for my patients to the best of my ability. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote, ‘to know even one life breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded,’ has helped remind me of the nature of my job.
Cassie is a daughter, wife and a mom to the 2-year-old Tate. Her husband Armon is the owner of the local Sonic Drive-in. Her biggest accomplishment in life is “being a nurse and being Tate’s mom.”
