Apply to SKILL

SKILL is a fee-for-service academic support program for undergraduate students with documented evidence of learning differences and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. SKILL includes weekly coaching sessions which focus on: study skills, time management, decision making, organization, planning, effective and professional communication and academic progress monitoring.

Fees

Students enrolled in SKILL must also be eligible for accommodations through the Office of Accessibility; however, SKILL is an optional fee based service and is not considered an accommodation. Fees are $1200 per semester charged to the student's eBill account.

Steps to Apply to SKILL

  1. Please download this application and return it to skill@auburn.edu; the application reserves the student's place on the waiting list.
  2. Upon receipt of the application, the Program Director will email the student and parents/guardians intake paperwork, as well as to set up the intake interview.
  3. Because enrollment in SKILL is contingent upon eligibility for accommodations with the Office of Accessibility, students with documented learning differences and/or ADHD must submit documentation to the Office of Accessibility. The Office of Accessibility reviews the documentation and determines eligibility for accommodations. For more information on the Office of Accessibility, visit accessibility.auburn.edu.

Intake

For the intake process, the student will complete an intake questionnaire and participate in an intake interview. Parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to be involved in the intake process if they choose. Intake interviews can be conducted in person or over the phone, prior to the 1st week of the semester. During the intake interview, we will review the information included in the student and parent intake questionnaires as well as review the student and parent coaching contract.
