Many Medicare patients can not afford their medical care and medications.
Subsidy programs are available for low income individuals but are underutilized.
Pharmacists can help identify these individuals and refer them to the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs)
This is why we have created the C.A.R.E.S Pharmacy Network. Network pharmacies will receive a referral kit to make referral easy and efficient for both the pharmacy and their patients. Referred patients will be screened for all available benefits by a counselor at the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) including SenioRx, Low Income Subsidy Program, Medicare Savings Programs, caregiver assistance program, nutrition program, etc.
Participating in the network is easy and free. A pharmacy with at least one full-time pharmacist who completed the C.A.R.E.S. online continuing education program can be part of the network. The new online continuing education program is made available to pharmacists and technicians at no cost. The program will provide 3 ACPE approved credit hours and can be completed at their convenience. This program will provide updated information regarding programs for Medicare patients with limited income and how to efficiently and effectively assist these patients.
